Book NawaWho we are
This policy explains how Book Nawa (the Android app “Book Nawa”, package com.techquestcore.booknawa, and the website booknawa.com) collects, uses and protects your information. Last updated: 12 October 2026. Questions: the “Help & feedback” page in the app.
What we collect
Account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider. Optionally, a profile photo you choose, your app language and preferences, and your invite (referral) code.
What you do in the app: the books you open and listen to, your listening progress and time, ratings, favourites, collections, notes and highlights, quiz answers and scores, certificates, challenges and book clubs you join, comments and posts, book requests, the questions you ask about a book (as text), search terms, and simple usage events (for example “quiz completed”).
Voice questions: when you hold the microphone button, your phone’s speech-recognition service (for example Google) turns your voice into text. We receive only the text, never the recording. The microphone is used only while you hold the button.
Support: the messages you send us, with your app version, phone model and platform.
Device and connection: a random ID for this installation, a push-notification token (if you allow notifications), the app version, and your IP address and basic request details in our server logs.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, messages, call logs, payment details or the advertising ID, and the app shows no ads.
How we use it
To run the service: your account and sign-in, playing and syncing books across your devices, recaps and recommendations (“For you”), answers to your questions, community features, notifications you allow, and support. To keep the service safe: preventing abuse, spam and fraud. To improve it: statistics about how features are used, in aggregate.
AI features
When you ask a question about a book, the question and the relevant parts of the book are sent to Google’s Gemini AI service to write the answer. Book audio, recaps and podcasts are produced with Google Cloud services. We do not send your name or email address with these requests.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only with the companies that run the service for us, and only what they need: Hostinger (servers, database and email), Google (Sign-In, Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications, Gemini AI and Cloud Text-to-Speech) and Apple (Sign in with Apple). In the community, other listeners see your display name, profile photo and what you post. We may disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete it straight away together with your profile, photo, listening history, notes, highlights, ratings, comments, club and challenge activity and registered devices. Kept without any link to you: anonymous usage statistics, AI cost totals and security logs of sign-in attempts. Copies may remain in our encrypted server backups until those backups are replaced.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Settings (gear icon) → Delete account. This deletes your account and its data immediately. If you can no longer open the app, request deletion at https://booknawa.com/delete-account and we will delete the account within 30 days after confirming that it is yours.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile in the app, turn notifications off in your phone’s settings, and delete your account at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it: the “Help & feedback” page in the app. Depending on where you live you may have further rights, including complaining to your data-protection authority.
Security
All connections use HTTPS, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and access to our systems is limited to authorised staff. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at once if you think your account was misused.
Children
Book Nawa is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change is significant.
